Specialist Tana Cunningham was in a bind. Her car was recently totaled and she was without transportation. As a hard working 20-year-old soldier who drills at our local National Guard 34th Red Bulls Armory and attends college, Tana needed a mode of transportation. In addition to her military commitment, Tana also works on the weekends, along with serving as an intern with the Rochester Police Department. She plans to graduate with a degree in law enforcement.
The Faribault Beyond the Yellow Ribbon group (with several members making personal donations), along with Lakeville BTYR worked together to raise some funds for Tana. As luck would have it, a wonderful Good Samaritan stepped in and offered to sell her car for just $1,000. Linda Rhodes was especially motivated to help once she knew that a service member was in need. On February 7, a wonderful meeting during which Linda turned over the keys to Tana was captured in a few photos. This type of collaborative, “can do” effort exemplifies the Beyond the Yellow Ribbon mentality.
